Our platform is fully equipped for lipid analysis (storage and membrane lipids, lipid polyesters, surface waxes).

We do routine analysis of lipids extracted from microalgae and plants:

  • Identification and quantification of fatty acids, waxes and polyester monomers using gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS, Focus-DSQ2: with chemical ionization and electron impact) and gas chromatography with flame ionization detector (GC-FID, Trace)
  • Profiling and quantification of membrane and storage lipid classes using high performance thin layer chromatography (HP-TLC, Camag)
  • Analysis of lipid molecular species using liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) (Planned for winter 2010)
